United Nations – France re-elected to the Human Rights Council (Oct. 10, 2023)
At the General Assembly on October 10, 2023, France was re-elected to serve on the UN Human Rights Council for a three-year term beginning in 2024. We would like to thank the States that placed their trust in France.
This year, as we celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, France is more committed than ever to pursuing its policy regarding the universal promotion and protection of all human rights and civil, political, social, economic, and cultural rights. France will work tirelessly for the universal abolition of the death penalty; the fight against impunity and discrimination; the promotion of the rights of women and LGBT+ people; and advocacy for human rights activists and the freedom of the press.
Firm in its belief that multilateralism is the best way to respond to today’s challenges, France will work closely with its Human Rights Council partners and civil society, driven by the powerful goal of achieving a more free and just society.
